Sally Walker Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honour the efforts of Emeritus Professor Sally Walker’s outstanding contribution to Deakin University as Vice-Chancellor from 2003 to 2010 and pay tribute to her strong commitment to the value and benefits that education brings.

The Sally Walker Scholarship will be awarded annually, to a person who would otherwise have difficulty or be unable to study at Deakin University, due to financial circumstances.

Value

$10 000 per year, comprising $8000 towards accommodation costs and a cash component of $2000 to offset study expenses, such as books.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be: 

  • an Australian citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • a commencing student enrolled full time in an undergraduate course at Deakin University, preferably at the Warrnambool Campus
  • have a rural or regional home location
  • able to demonstrate you are in receipt of a means-tested Centrelink benefit or have a personal or family taxable income below the HECS repayment threshold, depending on independence status.

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application and supporting documentation.
