Deakin offers a total university experience.
You will receive a quality education that offers flexibility and prepares you for the real world. Our strong industry partnerships, state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant Campuses will see you undertake a meaningful learning experience and guide you to achieve your individual career aspirations.
Here are some of the reasons why Deakin is the right choice for you:
With Campuses located in Melbourne at Burwood, Warrnambool on Victoria's south-west coast and Geelong, Deakin allows you to choose between metro, regional or rural study environments. There is also the option to study off campus. Each Deakin course adheres to the same high standards, regardless of where you study.
At Deakin it's your choice. Multiple course entry and exit points, a two-year deferral option, full-time and part-time study options, and online, on campus and off-campus study all allow you the flexibility to structure your study to suit your lifestyle. At Deakin we provide the potential to fast-track your degree and graduate sooner through our trimester system. However if you are thinking of taking a year or two off from study to work, travel or volunteer, Deakin's new gap year program (available to undergraduate Australian students) is an option. These flexible study options allow you to tailor your degree to suit your individual needs whilst helping you get a head start on your career.
Deakin prepares you for the real world by providing opportunities to gain valuable experience and develop real workplace skills in courses that are taught by industry professionals and through industry placements, internships and overseas study programs. Deakin's courses are developed with input from specialised Course Advisory Boards, and through these professional links we ensure that our courses are relevant, practical and deliver the skills in demand in the workplace, so you can hit the ground running.
With more than 550 courses to choose from, Deakin offers you a broad range of options. Courses are offered from bachelor to doctoral level, in disciplines such as arts, science, sport, environment, nutrition, architecture, law, medicine, engineering, nursing, teaching, psychology and business. Deakin's range of combined courses gives our graduates a distinctive edge in the employment market. Deakin continues to adapt and create new courses to meet ongoing trends in the Australian and international labour market, in addition to providing high quality traditional courses of study.
Deakin's recent achievements have been recognised through many awards, including seven Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning at the 2010 Australian Learning and Teaching Council Awards. We have also won the prestigious Australian University of the Year award twice.
Deakin welcomes students from all backgrounds and celebrates the richness that diversity brings to university life. That's why we have access and equity programs and offer a range of scholarships to assist with the costs of tuition and accommodation, ensuring everyone has an equal chance to obtain a university education.
Students tell us that Deakin's supportive staff and friendly environment make it a great place to meet different people with new ideas. Our welcoming atmosphere also ensures that we continue to treat our students as individuals with freedom of thought and action. Our Principles of Teaching, Learning and the Student Experience ensure teaching, learning and the student experience is based on a partnership between students and staff. Deakin also provides a range of support programs and a Transition Program for commencing students to help you to settle in to university life.
Deakin has signed an agreement with the Australian Sports Commission and the Victorian Institute of Sport to enable the University to join the Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Network. The EAFU Network identifies and promotes universities that support elite athlete students by developing programs and policies to assist them in pursuing sporting opportunities whilst achieving academic excellence.
