Scholarship helps Western District student focus on her studies

Lucia Camera, 2009 Deakin Moore Family Scholarship recipient shares her experiences:

'My name is Lucia Camera and I am studying a Bachelor of Nursing at the Warrnambool Campus. I live in Hamilton and study in Warrnambool which means I drive an hour each day to come to university.

The scholarship funds have been useful in the purchase of text books and nursing equipment and also the everyday travel from home to university. In addition, the nursing course requires numerous clinical placements in various hospitals. I have used my scholarship to help pay for accommodation and travel expenses whilst on these placements.

The scholarship has helped me immensely in my first year of study. It has eased the burden of having to come up with large amounts of money in short periods of time which has prevented unwanted stress. Having a scholarship has also meant that I can work less giving me more time to focus solely on my studies and achieve to the best of my abilities.'
