Facilities

World-class occupational therapy facilities

When you're not in lecture halls, you'll be putting your theoretical knowledge into practice in our occupational therapy labs. These labs are the perfect place to refine your practical skills before you work with real clients during your fieldwork unit.

Occupational Therapy Learning Hub

In 2018, our new, state-of-the-art Occupational Therapy Learning Hub opened at the Geelong Waterfront Campus.

This major refurbishment provides students with simulation facilities that include the latest in technology, reflecting real working conditions and equipment that will position you well for graduate employment.

Our new OT space is a large simulation teaching space dedicated to the comprehensive training of OT students. It is complete with simulated kitchen, bathroom and bedroom spaces, all installed with SMART technology. This assistive technology – including voice activated devices Alexa and Google Home, as well as more complex, fixed technologies – is important in our students’ training. Real-life simulations and assessments display how the technology can be used to assist clients in completing daily tasks, and prepares students for their future careers.

Students and academics have access to the display of course material on two large projection screens at the front of the room in the group teaching zone, in addition to LCD displays positioned in each of the four simulation zones.

Student activities within defined sections of the space are able to be recorded with video and audio and uploaded for analysis so academics can assess students and provide feedback in real time. Students can then watch their footage to get a real idea of how they’re performing and how they can improve their strategies.

Our new technology includes:

  • simulated kitchen, bathroom and bedroom spaces
  • SMART technology installed throughout
  • voice activated devices Alexa and Google Home
  • two large projection screens in the group teaching zone
  • LCD displays within each of the four simulation zones.
