Partnership with Wesley Mission Victoria (WMV)

Over the past four years CHASE and Wesley Mission Victoria (previously Wesley Mission Melbourne) have been working together on a variety of projects, all of which share the characteristic of aiming to promote social inclusion.

Two of the projects have been as a three way partnership with Aboriginal Elders and are described elsewhere on this site. The other projects have been linked to the evaluation and development of Wesley’s services to its clients.

WMV and Deakin have taken this partnership to a new level by signing, in December 2009, an MOU which sets out the intent for future partnership work specifically to:

(a) enable areas of collaboration which may be of benefit to both parties to be identified and developed; and

(b) foster social inclusion and belonging in relation to service delivery and policy development through the following ways:

(i) developing evidence informed practice, incorporating participatory approaches that involve service users, families of choice and staff at all levels in WMV;

(ii) involving Deakin research students in research activities to support participatory approaches that involve service users, families of choice and staff at all levels in WMV;

(iii) involving Deakin students undertaking practicum in different service areas within WMV to support WMV activities and provide a valuable work integrated learning experience for the student; and

(iv) developing collaborative research programs to support the work of WMV.

Links to reports from these various partnership activities will be posted here as soon as available
