KAPS (Kids physical activity with parental support)

The study will develop and test the effectiveness of a family based intervention targeting potential mediators of children's out-of-school hours physical activity.

It will be conducted in two phases, the first is a qualitative study to explore the feasibility of strategies that target potential mediators of children's physical activity; the second to design and pilot test the effectiveness of a 3-month intervention targeting potential mediators to promote 10-12 year old children's out-of-school-hours physical activity in the family setting. The study is being conducted in the Cities of Whitehorse and Boroondara.

The study aims to:

  • Develop intervention strategies targeting key mediators of children’s physical activity.
  • Design and test the effectiveness of a 3-month intervention to promote 10-12 year old children's out-of-school-hours physical activity in the family setting.
