Frequently Asked Questions
1. What questions are being asked in the questionnaire and the food diary app?
The questionnaire will ask about a range of factors that may influence meals and meal patterns. Factors covered in the questionnaire include your eating/drinking habits, food security, knowledge about healthy eating, cooking habits, support for healthy eating from family or friends, access to facilities, perception of the local neighbourhood and availability of public transport. The questionnaire will also ask about a range of other factors that may be important to health such as education, relationship status and work habits.
The smart phone App food diary also requires participants to answer a series of questions for all food/drinks consumed over the 4 days of the study. These questions focus on the type of food/drink, social situation during the eating/drinking occasion, preparation involved, location of eating/drinking occasion as well as mood during the eating/drinking occasion.
2. Where can I get help with the Food diary App?

3. Where can I get help with the SenseWear Armband?

4. Are there any benefits or risks to participants?
We cannot guarantee or promise that you will receive any benefits from this project.
There is a small risk (less than 1% of users) of mild to severe skin irritation from wearing the SenseWear Armband. This may occur for those with highly sensitive skin or allergies to the materials used in the SenseWear band or strap. This issue is often resolved by cleaning the monitor. We do not anticipate any other possible risks as a result of participation in this study. There are no consequences for choosing not to participate. There are also no consequences for choosing to withdraw from the study, and this can be done at any time.
5. Can I choose which elements of the study I participate in? (i.e. I don’t want to keep a food diary but want to wear the armband, or vice-versa)
Unfortunately not. If you consent to participating in the study we will ask that you complete all elements of the study. This is to ensure that we have accurate and similar data on all participants. However, if you consent to participating and then decide to withdrawal for any reason, you are welcome to do so without consequence.
6. Is participation voluntary?
Participation in any research project is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you are not obliged to. If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw from the project at any stage at which point any information obtained from you will not be used and will be destroyed.
