Role and profile
Dr Alison Booth is a Lecturer in Nutritional Science in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and a member of the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (C-PAN). Her current research focus is on exploring food and lifestyle patterns among blood donors in order to assist in keeping blood donors healthy throughout life. Previously, Dr Booth’s research has focused on effective methods for improving dietary and exercise self-management skills in people at risk of lifestyle-related diseases.


Research interests
Dr Booth’s current focus is on exploring dietary and lifestyle patterns that predict low iron status among pre-menopausal women blood donors. She will use this information to develop a health and lifestyle support program for donors, using popular technology. Dr Alison Booth’s main research interests are in the areas of developing and evaluating dietary and exercise self-management tools (paper-based) or programs (web-based or computer-based) to improve people’s health and wellbeing.
