Role and profile
Andrew Dawson is a Lecturer in the area of Exercise and Sport Science in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. He teaches Sport and Exercise Psychology and Sport Coaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Andrew is completing his PHD investigating the management of coach career development.

Andrew Dawsons’ research is primarily concerned with understanding the development of sport coaches. This research can be broken down into four main areas:• Coach education and professional development • Career development in sports coaching • Coach effectiveness • Sports policy and governance in relation to coach development Andrew is also interested in the emerging field of Health Coaching and its contribution to enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals. 2001 - Victorian Sport and Recreation Industry Awards (Finalist) for applied research in sport and recreation science looking at the ethical beliefs and behaviours of Victorian fitness professionals.
