Research interests
Dr. Sharleen O’Reilly’s research is primarily related to food choice and its impact on health in certain at-risk groups within the community. This extends into looking at strategies that may be effective in altering inflammation status, modifying lifestyle-related behaviours, reducing salt intake or changing micronutrient levels to promote health.
Her current research looks at whether community pharmacists can help reduce heart disease risk through tailored lifestyle behaviour change advice, the level of salt consumed by the Australian population and lifestyle-related behaviour change for diabetes prevention. Previous research has focused on the role of folate in the health of the large intestine and whether folic acid supplementation can help promote better bowel health.
