Research Interests
Dr Ridgers’ current program of research is examining factors that influence children’s physical activity and sedentary behaviours. She is interested in the assessment of these behaviours, and how these behaviours are influenced by a range of factors. Dr Ridgers is also interested in children’s physical activity levels and play behaviours during school recess and lunchtime. She has conducted a longitudinal evaluation of the effect of a playground markings and physical structures intervention on children’s activity levels, and has developed an observation instrument to enable researchers to determine the behaviours in which children engage in a range of play contexts.
