Role and profile
Dr Steve Fraser lectures in the area of Exercise Physiology in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level and also supervises higher degree students. He is an active researcher in the area of exercise in the treatment and prevention of Type 2 diabetes.

Research Interests
Dr Fraser is interested in the role exercise plays in improving insulin sensitivity and the use of resistance exercise as a treatment for Type 2 diabetes. Techniques used to investigate this include animal models of diabetes, and human studies measuring oral glucose tolerance, and muscle biopsies to investigating signalling pathways that improve glucose disposal. He has also recently investigated lifestyle interventions to reduce obesity in adolescents.
