Role and profile
Dr Timperio is a senior researcher in the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research (C-PAN) within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. She currently holds a VicHealth Public Health Research Fellowship. Dr Timperio is an active researcher with a program of work related to understanding influences on physical activity behaviour and weight status.

Research Interests
Dr Timperio’s research is focused on understanding the range of influences on physical activity, eating behaviours and weight status, particularly among children and adolescents, and over critical life transition periods (e.g., childhood to adolescence, adolescence to young adulthood). She is involved in several longitudinal studies that examine individual, social and environmental influences on behaviour. A major focus of her recent work has been understanding and measuring neighbourhood food and physical activity environments. Dr Timperio’s other research interests include: physical activity measurement; the behavioural epidemiology of weight control; and evaluation of health promotion and public health interventions.
