Further detailed information regarding insurance.
The policy provides insurance cover for the University’s legal liability to pay compensation to a third party in respect of physical injury and/or property damage caused by a student. A third party is a claimant other than Deakin University or the student concerned. A copy of the current Certificate of Currency of the insurance policy is provided to agencies and supervisors when placements are confirmed.
The policy provides insurance cover for the University’s legal liability to indemnify the host organisation for increased WorkCover premium costs due as a result of a compensation injury to a student on work experience. Although under existing legislation a University student cannot make a WorkCover claim for unpaid placement activities, some host organisations insist on an indemnity agreement before accepting our students.
* Please note that Deakin University has no insurance cover for damage of host organisation vehicles which are driven by University students.
