Re-enrolment 2013 - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The School of Health and Social Development

Question 1 - Who has to enrol?

All current Deakin students need to re-enrol for 2013 for the entire year (both Trimesters 1 and 2). This information is important to the University as it allows us to plan room bookings, teaching and support staff etc. to ensure a positive university experience for you.
If you are planning to apply for a course transfer, you will still need to enrol in your current course for 2013.

Question 2 - How long do I have to re-enrol?

Students enrolled in courses offered by the Faculty of Health have between September the 3 to the 28 to re-enrol. Failure to enrol during this period will incur a late fee.

Question 3 - I'm not sure which units are compulsory for my course. Where can I find a list of majors and their units?

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Course grids for each course offered by the School, can be downloaded as either a Word document (43KB .docx) or as a Portable document download (79KB .pdf). These show the preferred course progression for each degree, including core and compulsory units, and the trimester in which they should be taken.

The Bachelor of Health Sciences major listings can be downloaded here for Burwood-based students Word document (39KB .docx) or Portable document download (114KB .pdf)
And here for Warrnambool and Geelong-based students Word document (33KB .docx) or Portable document download (112KB .pdf)

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

The course grids that relate directly to your course and year of commencement have been emailed to your Deakin account. Contact us (details below) if you have not received this document.

Question 4 - What is a course plan?

A course plan, like a map, shows you where you have been and where you are going. Using the course grids found above, you will be able to map the units you have completed so far, and those left to do in a clearly outlined grid.
A blank course planner you fill out yourself is here. (27KB .docx)

Question 5 - What is an elective?

An elective is neither a core unit, nor a unit that forms part of your major area(s) of study. Electives are usually chosen to complement your core studies, providing you with knowledge across a broad range of topics.
Electives can come from outside the Faculty of Health (maximum of eight depending upon your course of enrolment and number of electives available). You must ensure that (inclusive of the compulsory units from your majors and the core units) no more than ten units are taken at level 1.

Faculty of Health Undergraduate Elective listing can be found here.

To search for an elective, go to the Handbook Advanced Unit Search here.
