Role and profile
Dr Matthew Dunn has been a Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Development since March 2010. Prior to joining Deakin, Dr Dunn was at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at the University of NSW for over five years, where he is still a Visiting Fellow. Dr Dunn teaches at the undergraduate level, primarily supporting the delivery of the Bachelor of Health Sciences at the Geelong Waterfront and Geelong Waurn Ponds campuses though also at the Melbourne Burwood campus as required. In addition to his teaching responsibilities in the School, he maintains an active research profile in his areas of interest (see below).

Dr Dunn regularly peer-reviews submitted to national and international journals. He has provided comment on a range of issues related to illicit drug use and performance and image enhancing drug use to the print, radio and television media. He has provided consultancy and training on substance use to a range of government and non-government agencies, including the NSW Department of Education, the AIDS Council of NSW (ACON), Swimming Australia, Prince of Wales Hospital, and the National Rugby League. Dr Dunn has helped coordinate a range of alcohol and illicit drug awareness seminars for Swimming Australia.
