Role and profile
Chloe O’Connor has just commenced her role as a lecturer in the school of health and social development – occupational therapy in 2012. Prior to joining Deakin, Chloe has been working as an occupational therapist in paediatric settings. Chloe is undertaking her PhD with Professor Karen Stagnitti in the area of play and its impact on childhood development. Chloe is teaching in occupational therapy at Deakin Waterfront at an undergraduate level and also has a role in coordinating fieldwork for her teaching unit.

Research Interests
Chloe has published research in the area of play and its impact on children with developmental delay and disability in early childhood. Chloe would like to extend her research to look at the role of play and its impact on children in schools which she is currently doing through her PhD research.

Service to the University, discipline or community
Chloe has published articles in international and Australian occupational therapy journals in the area of paediatrics. Chloe continues to expand growing research around the importance of play in childhood development. Through maintaining part-time employment within the community as an occupational therapist Chloe endeavors to establish connections between the community and Deakin University.
