Annual Events

Guest Speaker Night

The Guest Speaker Night is an academic event that provides the opportunity for education and networking to students. This event is held annually and we invite several well-known and active members of the optometry industry from a broad range of practice and experience to give speeches on possible career directions that students may wish to take in the future. Speakers come with experience with indigenous care, rural and remote optometry, and international aid.

Conferences

Every year we aim to organise transport and refreshments for students wanting to attend annual conferences such as Southern Regional Congress (SRC) or ODMA. These conferencea are an opportunity for students wanting to further explore their learning in vision science and optometry.

Orientation Camp

The Orientation Week Camp will be held over 2-3 days at a location yet to be decided and will be an excellent opportunity for students to meet each other and network as well as provide opportunities to develop contacts and become familiar and comfortable one another at the very beginning of the course. It will also allow for first year students to form friendships and bonds with second year students allowing for a smoother transition from high school to university life. This type of event will be critical in developing team based and communication skills that will be vital in future study and work. The camp will be an excellent opportunity for your company to receive exposure to a highly receptive cohort of new and existing optometry students and will give you a huge chance to be able to market and inform students of employment opportunities.
