Our research is conducted over a number of streams. Within the epidemiology arm, there are two principal foci: lifestyle as a risk factor for the development of psychiatric disorders, and prevention of psychiatric disorders; and secondly, medical comorbidity of mood and anxiety. An active program of research focuses on biomarkers of risk for psychiatric disorders, particularly oxidative and inflammatory markers. The unit is also actively engaged in the development of novel therapies, particularly those that target oxidative and inflammatory pathways. Other areas include internet therapies, drug safety and early intervention.
