Role and profile
Associate Professor Felice N Jacka is a psychiatric epidemiologist with a particular research interest in the common mental disorders, depression and anxiety.


Teaching responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include supervision of higher research degree students.


Research interests
Associate Professor Jacka leads a field of investigation focused on the role of diet, as well as physical activity and smoking, as risk factor for the common mental disorders. She has an overarching interest in population-based approaches to the prevention of mental health problems, using public health strategies. She also leads a program of research that examines lifestyle based treatment interventions for clinical depressive illnesses.

Service to the University, discipline or community
Associate Professor Jacka is a frequent speaker at public forums and is actively involved in continuing education as a keynote speaker at academic and medical institutions, both in Australia and elsewhere. As a member of the steering committee for the “Parent’s Jury”, an online network of parents and guardians, initiated and funded by Cancer Council Australia, Diabetes Australia Vic, QLD and WA, the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society, VicHealth and YMCA Victoria, she is actively involved in lobbying governments, councils and industry for changes to the promotion and accessibility of processed and unhealthy foods to children. With Dr Lana Williams, Associate Professor Jacka also leads the Early Career Researcher committee and co-ordinates the ECR Mentoring Program for the Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research (ASPR).
