Trish Livingston
Role and profile
Associate Professor Trish Livingston is Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Health at Deakin University. She also holds a joint partnership position at Deakin – Eastern Health. Assoc Prof Livingston has a BA (Hons) and PhD (Ophthalmology); is a public health researcher with over 20 years’ experience in public health research, including 15 years in cancer control. She has extensive expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodology. She has established partnerships with academic, industry and governments; partnerships which have involved successful collaborations on previous translational research in the areas of ophthalmology and cancer control. Her programs of research have involved significant collaborations that are cross-disciplinary, cross-Faculty, and cross-institutional. Assoc Prof Livingston has generated over $3,000,000 in successful grant applications including NHMRC, ARC, Department of Health and Vichealth; published 85 research articles in refereed international and national journals and contributed to 100 presentations at international, national and local conferences. Assoc Prof Livingston’s publications tracked in the Scopus database have been cited over 990 times (on average, 19 times each) and she has an h-index score of 14. Teaching responsibilities
Assoc Prof Livingston has co-supervised 5 Higher Degree scholars to completion, with 1 PhD student awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Alfred Deakin Award for Best Doctoral Thesis (2011), and 8 Honours students, 4 of which received a 85% or higher thesis result and one student was awarded the Pro Vice-Chancellor’s prize for the top Honours thesis in the Faculty of Health, Deakin University (2011).
Research interests
Assoc Prof Livingston’s key research focus is in the implementation of clinical and community based interventions, programs, policy initiatives and guidelines to improve health delivery and outcomes for people with cancer and their caregivers. Knowledge gained from her research has been translated to advance the development of policy initiatives, education and clinical programs to improve health outcomes for cancer consumers.
