  The Alfred Hospital

The partnership between The Alfred Hospital and Deakin University School of Nursing began in July 1998. A central aim of the collaboration is to facilitate the development of a research program in cardiac nursing that will optimise patient outcomes through research, and promote effective and efficient clinical nursing practice.

Research has focused on nursing practice in relation to the care of patients with coronary artery disease undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. The collaboration provides opportunities for clinical nurses and students to develop higher levels of research skills while progressing research activities in cardiac nursing at the Alfred. To achieve this, The Alfred Hospital, Nursing division is offering two Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) scholarships and two Master in Nursing scholarships for nurses interested in pursuing research activities in cardiac nursing.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
