Application procedure and forms for prospective postgraduate research students

Welcome to the Faculty of Health. The Faculty consists of five Schools. The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (research themes include physical activity and health, nutrition and metabolism, and population health), the School of Health and Social Development (public health, health economics, health promotion, social work, occupational therapy, and disability), the School of Psychology (social and mental health, clinical, health and forensic psychology, and addictive behaviours), the School of Nursing and Midwifery (Chronic care, acute care and coronary care), and the School of Medicine (regional and rural health services, biomedical). Staff are mainly located at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus or the Geelong Waterfront Campus.

Step 1:

Select the postgraduate research (PhD or Masters by Research) program you wish to apply for. A list of courses can be found at: Research degrees

Step 2:

Key to entry (besides meeting entry qualifications) into a Research (PhD or Masters by Research) program is the support of a Deakin staff member to supervise your research program. The support of a supervisor is essential, therefore you must discuss your research interests/proposed program with potential supervisors prior to applying for candidature. Note the application form requires an applicant to provide a one page outline of their proposed research program. A comprehensive list of research supervisors and their area of interest with links to their personal pages, containing email and phone contacts can be found at: Find a supervisor

Step 3:

With the support of a supervisor, submit an application.
