Role and profile
Helen Evert is a research fellow (0.5) in the School of Psychology working under the leadership of A/Prof Jane McGillivray co-ordinating a research study into the emotional health of young people diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This study has been funded by the Department of Human Services. The research study has two components; one is an assessment phase where participants complete a detailed questionnaire and the other is a group program. Helen facilitates the group program which runs for 9 weeks and incorporates principles of cognitive behavioural therapy to assist young people manage negative thinking, anxiety and low mood.
Research Interests
Helen’s current research interest centres on gaining a better understanding of mental health issues faced by young people with an ASD and in developing appropriate interventions.
