Role and profile
Associate Professor Petra Staiger is the Associate Head of Research in the School of Psychology. Dr. Staiger has worked in the clinical and research field of addiction for the last 15 years. She has a well-respected national and international reputation in this area with a strong track record in managing large research grants. She currently manages as lead investigator a number of large research grants which address: the identification of pathways of care for individuals who misuse substances and have multiple mental health comorbidities (funded by beyondblue); trialing an alcohol intervention for recovering drug users (funded by the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Fund); a large scale evaluation of an alcohol and other drug service in Victoria and evaluating the mainstreaming of the Hospital Admission Reduction Program at Southern Health (both funded by the Department of Human Services).
