Role and profile
Professor Greg Tooley is Head of the School of Psychology. He has extensive experience in teaching across the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the areas of clinical and health psychology, and the biological bases of behaviour. He is an active researcher and supervises a number of fourth-year, master, and doctoral students.

Research Interests
Professor Tooley’s research is primarily driven by the evolutionary approach to understanding human behaviour. This approach is underpinned by the idea that human cognition, emotion and behaviour are as much a product of evolutionary pressures as is human physiology. His most recent work has focussed on the relationship between family structure and child abuse and neglect, and gender differences in parenting and sexual behaviour. Professor Tooley also has a strong clinical and research track record in the field of behavioural medicine. He is a Director of the Integrative Health Research Unit with a particular focus on understanding and evaluating treatments for poorly understood conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
