This page contains ideas, strategies and resources to assist academic staff to enhance student engagement

In 2009, the School of Education funded a small project to collect exemplars of student engagement.

The project focused on raising awareness, knowledge and understanding of student engagement among staff in the School of Education and more widely and promoting strategies that Deakin staff might adopt in their teaching practice to enhance student engagement.

Drawing on the extensive expertise and experience within the School of Education around pedagogy, curriculum and learning theory, the aim of the project was to uncover and document examples of best practice in university student engagement.

School of Education staff were interviewed to uncover suggestions about curriculum and pedagogy that engages students. Exemplars from staff across the School of Education, teaching in various modes and teaching various cohorts of students, were gathered.

These exemplars are illustrative of some of the ways in which School of Education staff engage their students.  The collection of exemplars are not designed to be definitive, but rather to provide ideas and suggestions for colleagues to consider.
