Recently, in both Australia and the United States, this focus has faced numerous threats, including: funding cuts, corporatisation, and international competition, a loss of student vitality, and loss of community citizenship. Healthy partnerships are critical to the representation of the university as a community member, engaged with its civic responsibilities. They are a critical mechanism for achieving societal based aspirations for the contributions that universities can make in shaping future societies. This Symposium will explore international best practice in promoting community health and wellbeing through innovative forms of university-community engagement.
