Health and Social Impact Assessment Short Course
10th - 13th June 2008,
Deakin University, Burwood Campus
MELBOURNE, VICTORIA .

The School of Health and Social Development at Deakin
University is offering a short course on Health and Social Impact
Assessment from 10th - 13th June 2008.

Increasing national and international attention has been directed to both Health Impact Assessment and Social Impact Assessment.

The goal of any form of impact assessment is to improve decision-making and to avoid unanticipated consequences of actions on either the broader population or differentially to various sections of the population. Therefore knowledge of the different ways that health and social impact assessment can be integrated into the work of professionals at a range of levels is vital.

This training will enable practitioners to understand how to conduct, commission, review or coordinate future health or social impact assessments within a range of realistic work settings. It aims to provide skills for improving the capacity of personnel working in the broad areas of management, planning and policy at all levels of government in both health and non-health sectors and in the voluntary and community sectors.
