The following scholarships and awards are available in 2009.

| Handbury Scholarship | Accommodation for a resident of Victoria, preferably rural or regional area of Victoria, who is from a socio-economic disadvantaged background, or is in financial need, or has a demonstrable disadvantage and can demonstrate commitment to rural or regional medical practice. | $7,500 |
| Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship | For living expenses to students able to demonstrate financial disadvantage - based on academic merit | $2,207 |
| Deakin Accommodation Scholarship | For accommodation expenses to students from rural backgrounds able to demonstrate financial disadvantage - based on academic merit | $8,000 |
| Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship | For living expenses to students from rural backgrounds able to demonstrate financial disadvantage - based on academic merit | $4,415 |
| Coltman Awards | Award for purchase of equipment, including a laptop computer. Awarded to financially disadvantaged applicants with the highest entry score | $1,500 |
| Four Points by Sheraton Award (Not offered in 2009) | 2 year scholarship for a financially disadvantaged student from a rural area to support accommodation in the residences during the first 2 years of the course | $7,500 |
| Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship | Awarded to students bonded to practise in a rural or remote region for six years | $23,686 tax free |
| Dr Gilbert M Davis Award | Awarded to students able to demonstrate financial hardship to suport relocation or accommodation costs | $1,000 |
| George Golding Award | Awarded to a student who was educated in the Geelong region who intends to return to the region to practise medicine - based on academic merit and equity | $5,000 |
