Application procedures:
Applications for undergraduate courses should be made via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions System (VTAC), refer to www.vtac.edu.au

Extra requirements: Non Year 12
All applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form if they wish other information to be considered during the selection process. This may include information such as work or community experience or reasons for applying. Applicants may wish to provide other documentation via the VTAC system in support of their application.

Re-entry Course for Nurses*

If you have been registered previously as a general nurse, or are currently registered, but have not had recent nursing experience and wish to update your skills and knowledge, the Professional Development Unit can provide you with further information on the appropriate course for your needs.

*Please note these are both full fee paying courses.

Nursing scholarship applications

The Royal College of Nursing has available Scholarships for potential nursing students from either Rural or Remote areas of Australia. These scholarships are open to all prospective students who meet the selection criteria. Further information can be obtained from www.rcna.org.au or freecall 1800 11 72 62. The name of the scholarship is Australian Government Rural and Remote Nurse Scholarship Program: Undergraduate Scheme.

Bachelor of Nursing

Based on VTAC's 1st preferences in the 2011 selection period, the Bachelor of Nursing offered on the Melbourne Campus at Burwood is the second most preferred course at Deakin University.
Application Information for Enrolled Nurses - T3 2011 intake ( commences in November 2011)

Purpose:
To enable Enrolled Nurses (previously known as Division 2 nurses) to meet the eligibility criteria to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Enrolled Nurses are currently eligible for up to 8 credit points for prior learning (please note this is under review and is subject to change). This credit is spread across the three years of the Bachelor of Nursing course therefore the student’s overall study load is reduced throughout the course. Students normally commence studies in Trimester 2 of Year 1.

Entry requirements:
Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as Enrolled Nurses. Applicants will be eligible to apply for recognition of prior learning based on their previous studies.

Applications for T3 2011 (commences November 2011 ) intake must be made directly to the University through the Applicant Portal.

Clinical Skills Centre

The Clinical Skills Centre at Deakin University consists of purpose built laboratories and simulated hospital environments. The centres are situated on each of the university campuses and are well resourced with state of the art equipment to aid students in their clinical learning and their transition towards independent nursing practice.
