Ageing and Chronic Illness
The Ageing and Chronic Illness (A&CI) Research Unit coordinates research and development activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing in the elderly and individuals with chronic illness across the continuum of care including residential aged care.
Specifically, within the two cognate areas, it concentrates its research activities within two program areas:
1) Risk and symptom management
2) Community wellbeing.
- To continue to develop and strengthen research infrastructure / capacity, and national / international collaborations that contribute to knowledge development in the fields of ageing and chronic illness.
- To focus research activities in the areas of risk management, symptom management, community care and enhancing independence and functional wellbeing in older persons and persons with a chronic illness.
- To develop and implement strategies that encourage the integration of research into the policy and practice of health care delivery of two groups: 1) the elderly, 2) those affected by chronic illness.
