Taking the IELTS test

The IELTS test is undertaken at Deakin's Melbourne Burwood Campus.

Candidates must arrive at the Deakin IELTS Test Centre at 7:45am on the day of the test.

On test day, registration will be held at:

What to bring on the day

Candidates will need to bring:

  • A valid, original passport. (Certified copies are NOT accepted)
  • IELTS Test Registration Card (This will be given to you when you register in person)
  • Pencils, sharpener and an eraser
  • Candidates are NOT allowed to bring; mobile phones, bags, coats or jackets, wallets, keys, highlighters or pencil cases into the examination room. Candidates will be provided with space to store coats and bags. Candidates are advised to dress in comfortable clothes and bring water in a transparent bottle.

The format of the test

The listening, reading and writing sections of the test will commence at 9:00am and take 3 hours (with no break).

The speaking section (the interview) will be held on the same day between 1pm - 5pm.

Candidates will be allocated an interview time on the day. It is NOT possible to provide the interview time before the test day.
