Engaging our Melbourne community

Located in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs alongside Gardiners Creek parklands, Deakin's Burwood Campus is a contemporary, award-winning and architecturally dynamic customised learning environment.

Deakin's Burwood Campus features a range of inviting cafes and stylish restaurants, a gymnasium and adjacent sporting fields and is home to cutting-edge technology such as the Deakin Motion.Lab and Television Studios, the vibrant Deakin University Art Gallery and our modern and well-stocked Library – all of which are accessible to our local community.

The thriving metropolitan campus employs more than 1,500 staff and attracts over 26,000 students, approximately half of whom live locally – within 15 kilometres of the campus, and over 6,000 of whom are international students from over 50 different countries.

Deakin University is one of the largest employers in the region, our operations contribute $579 million annually to the local economy, and our presence helps to create over 4,500 equivalent full-time jobs in the local community.
