Opportunities for business
Deakin's local and global communities thrive from student participation in employment and volunteering activities, events and public programs, both during and after their studies. In partnership with business, industry and community organisations alike, we work collaboratively to provide opportunities for our students to learn and develop their career-readiness whilst also providing tangible support to host organisations.
Deakin is renowned for developing award-winning partnerships with industry, governments, communities, professional associations and other education providers. Building on successes across Australia these alliances now spread to more than 30 countries. You can partner with Deakin to make a positive difference in our communities in a number of ways, including; philanthropic giving, corporate education, engaging in collaborative and commercial research or consultancy services, and by connecting your business with our world-renowned academics. Travel & Transport
With a large and vibrant staff and student community, Deakin actively aims to minimise and reduce our impact on the surrounding campus neighbourhoods and the environment – demonstrating our commitment to responsible and sustainable enterprise through initiatives such as carpooling, encouraging walking, bike and public transport use, operating intercampus and park and ride shuttle services. Deakin's Environmental Sustainability Strategy ensures our staff, students, suppliers and partners are active in making changes to live, think and create a more sustainable future. Through our university-wide office recycling programs; annual tree planting days; Fair Trade accreditation; water conservation, waste management, sustainable procurement and sustainable building practices, Deakin is measurably reducing our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The University's vision is for a community working in harmony with minimal footprint, and fostering innovation, learning and accountability for a sustainable future. For more information click here.
To ensure Deakin continues to delight our students, staff, alumni and communities, and provides the services, facilities and environments needed to support and enrich our world-class teaching, learning and research, it's sometimes necessary to conduct maintenance and building works on our campuses. For information about any such works on the Burwood Campus, click here.
Deakin's Workplace Giving program is one of the ways our staff help to make a positive difference in our local communities. Through Deakin's payroll system our staff can elect to donate to our Workplace Giving partners –The Smith Family and Médecins Sans Frontières, and Give Where You Live in Geelong, and the Brophy Family & Youth Services in Warrnambool. If all Deakin staff donated just the cost of one coffee per week, we could collectively contribute over half a million dollars annually to the initiatives that matter most to us and our local communities.
