Interests

Educational design and development
I am interested in many aspects of educational design, particularly in the use of online technologies to facilitate and promote engaging learning conversations. I believe online technologies can be used to enhance student learning in many ways, provided they are chosen carefully and applied with clear intentions, informed by a strong sense of learning design and used with a critical eye to their impact on student learning.

Research

PhD thesis: The impact of story in online role play
I am currently working part time as I complete my PhD. My topic involves researching story-based teaching and learning techniques, and in particular how online role plays may be designed and managed effectively to maximise the engaging qualities of the interactive dramatic stories that underlie these techniques. I am also researching various ways in which a poststructuralist approach may be used with online role play.
