The appropriate software (Deakin supported versions) can be downloaded from the Deakin University Software site or installed from the 'Software Essentials 09' DVD. Staff who have a Phoenix desktop please check your Phoenix Software Catalogue.
Click on Safari, then select Preferences.
Click on the Security tab.
Under Web Content, ensure that the following are ticked:
Enable plug-ins
Enable Java
Enable JavaScript.
Under Accept Cookies, ensure that Only from sites you navigate to is ticked.
Close the window.
Click on Safari and make sure Block Pop-Up Windows does NOT have a tick against it. If it does, click on Block Pop-Up Windows to enable popups.
Quit/exit Safari after you change settings and then re-start the application.
Note: On a Mac OSX system the embedded Java is 1.3.1. Please do not remove this Java version as the OSX system requires this version of Java to function and operate effectively. Safari recognises and enables both Java 1.3.1 and and the recommended and supported Java 1.5 for DSO.
Note: If you continue to experience problems after configuring your browser software settings, it may help to clear cache and cookies.
Click on Firefox and choose Preferences.
Click on the Privacy tab:
under Cookies, ensure that Accept cookies from sites is ticked.
Click on the Content tab.
ensure that Block pop-up windows is NOT ticked
ensure that Enable Java is ticked
ensure that Enable JavaScript is ticked.
Click OK.
Quit/exit Mozilla Firefox after you change settings and then re-start the application.
