TLO online professional development program

The Teaching and learning online (TLO) professional development program consists of modules you can complete online, at your own pace. The modules use realistic scenarios within Blackboard and guide you through the steps for each task as you go.

Introduction to Deakin Studies Online (DSO)

Introduction to DSO, the foundation module, will introduce you to Deakin's online teaching and learning environment and guide you through the basics of the Blackboard learning management system.

Online group work

The Online group work module will introduce you to the major issues relating to online group work and give you an opportunity to practise using the Blackboard tools that support online group activities.

Blackboard Assignments

This module aims to give you hands-on practice in the basics of creating, editing, submitting and marking Blackboard online assignments.

Using Turnitin and managing plagiarism

The Using Turnitin and managing plagiarism module will introduce you to the plagiarism detection software Turnitin and give you practice in using Turnitin in a Blackboard site. The module will also highlight issues relating to the use of Turnitin and suggest strategies to reduce the temptation for students to plagiarise.
