Flexible Learning Spaces Forums - Sep 22nd 2010 - Burwood

Learning in the 21st century is changing. Physical spaces convey important messages to students, and may establish or indeed dismantle institutional expectations about learning. So, our physical spaces literally embody our institutional values and strategies in support of learning. Learning spaces are evolving to meet these new challenges, but how at Deakin?

This forum will showcase several initiatives at Deakin and the leaders who have promoted them. The event will include visits (virtual and/or real) to some of these new 'learning spaces' together with an opportunity to discuss the implications for future design and development of Deakin's physical space.

This event occurs Sep 22nd from 11:30am-1:00pm in LT5 (Burwood). Registration is open to all Deakin staff: http://www.deakin.edu.au/itl/ers/event.php?event_id=550

Launch of 2011 STALGS Program

The 2011 STALGS program has now been launched. The guidelines have been revised by HERG led by Professor Marcia Devlin and Associate Professor Judy Nagy. Along with HERG, ITL staff are pleased to support Deakin staff in developing applications for 2011 STALGS funding. Key contact points are Professor Colin Mason and Dr Dale Holt. Other ITL staff who have led and been actively involved in STALGS projects who can be consulted are Dr Stuart Palmer, Mr Stephen Segrave and Mr Terry Timberlake. ITL has recently appointed two new academic staff based at the Melbourne Burwood campus: Dr Zofia Pawlaczek and Dr Wendy Sutherland- Smith. Both would be happy to advise on STALGS application opportunities. Before applying, please consult the listing of previous STALGS projects at: https://staff.deakin.edu.au/teaching-learning/grants/projects.php.
