Teaching in tutorials

The Teaching in tutorials workshop within the Fundamentals of teaching and learning program is designed for all academic staff who are new to teaching or who just want to share ideas about teaching in small classes. Both lecturers and sessional teachers are welcome to attend. Sessional teachers and casual academics will gain credit towards the PDCAS program facilitated by the Institute if they attend.

The session covers the following, although is flexible enough to pursue any issues which are raised during our conversations:

• adult learning theory
• strategies for engaging students in class
• designing effective learning experiences.

Format: face-to-face
Target audience: 'New to Deakin', inexperienced academics and sessional teachers
When: February, July and November
How long: 2 hour session
Requirements: nil
