Electronic marking of student assignments

Stuart Palmer, Institute of Teaching and Learning, Deakin University, January 2012

Introduction

This professional development module presents an overview of electronic marking (e-marking) of student assignments. It considers the importance of assessment and feedback generally, and how these key teaching and learning functions can be supported and enhanced by the online environment. While the practical examples of marking of student electronic assignment submissions are presented in the context of MS Word as the annotation tool, the principles also apply to many other common electronic document formats. Other important considerations for e-marking are also given.

This professional development module is composed of the sub-sections listed right. While each sub-section has been made a self-contained as possible, they are derived from a single document that can also be read as a single entity if desired. The entire document can be downloaded here (59 KB).
