Marking and moderating

Preamble

As part of your academic role, you will obviously be responsible for marking and providing feedback on students' assessment and participating in the moderation process. From a student's point of view, your role is critical because of course their results are dependent on your judgement on the value of their work.

Essentially, marking involves the provision of feedback on students' work and the allocation of a final grade that judges the quality of the work. It is important that you prepare adequately for marking to ensure consistency, reliability and fairness.
