Reporting an IT security issue

If you suspect someone has breached the conditions of IT use:

  1. Write down everything you know about the incident while it is still fresh in your memory
  2. Report the details to the IT Service Desk

If you suspect your username has been compromised:

  1. Immediately change your password
  2. Write down everything you know about the incident while it is still fresh in your memory
  3. Report the details to the IT Service Desk

If you suspect a security weakness in, or threat to, the University's IT facilities or infrastructure:

  1. Write down everything you know about the circumstances while they are still fresh in your memory
  2. Report the details to the IT Service Desk

To report email abuse:

  1. Move the message into a specific folder (e.g. one named Security)
  2. Report the details to the IT Service Desk. It is important to include the full mail headers in all communications if possible. In Eudora, clicking the Eudora blah button button with the message open will display all headers.
