inITiative - ITSD's quarterly news

inITiative is the quarterly news written and produced by the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). It showcases some of the effective, and often innovative, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects that have been implemented at Deakin. We have also included some handy hints to assist you with your day to day use of ICT.

 ITSD provides laptops to economically disadvantaged students.
 Internet protocol television (IPTV), another way that ITSD is keeping the Deakin community technologically connected.
 Deakin recognises the vital importance of participating in online communities, and have created Social Media Guidelines to ensure we do it in the right way.
 The challenge was set; teach a cohort of front line Library staff the basic IT services available to all students, so that they may better serve them.
 Early 2012 will see the release of an updated Software Essentials DVD, containing useful resources for Deakin students.
laptopThe rollout of Deakin Desktop encourages staff to schedule their own migration to ensure minimal disruption to workflows.
