Management process and consultancy

The management process and consultancy service is made up of project management, architectural consulting and planning, business analysis and benefits realisation planning and review.

Project management

ITSD manage many projects for the University each year using a number of proven project methodologies. Under this service, ITSD can provide appropriately skilled staff for other University areas, giving these areas support and access to methodologies that work in the University environment to manage projects with or without a technology component.

Charges

Project manager provision: This service is provided on a cost recovery basis.

Architectural consulting and planning

ITSD have staff members that are skilled in providing technology related advice through consultancy for a specific purpose and also through broader medium term and long term planning. These staff members can work with University areas to assist in technology forward planning.

Charges

Architectural consulting and planning: ITSD is centrally funded to provide a limited amount of this service to all Deakin University business areas. We will endeavour to assist with all requests however with limited staff numbers may need to prioritise needs across the organisation.

Business analysis

ITSD undertake business analysis for the University each year using proven methodologies and appropriately skilled staff. Under this service, ITSD can provide appropriately skilled staff for use by other University areas to assist with analysing a business need to ensure an appropriate solution is selected.

Business analysis: ITSD is centrally funded to provide a limited amount of this service to all Deakin University business areas. We will endeavour to assist with all requests however with limited staff numbers may need to prioritise needs across the organisation.

Benefits realisation planning and review

ITSD have staff members that are skilled in ensuring investments in technical and business change deliver maximum benefit to the University.  These staff members can work with University areas to:

  • Facilitate workshops which identify the key drivers, necessary business changes and expected benefits for a proposed project
  • Facilitate workshops that review the strengths and weaknesses of an existing business process and develop an action plan for change
  • Define, measure and review the realisation of expected business benefits.
