Scanning

There are two scanning options available for use by students in a number of locations on all Deakin University campuses. They are scanning using flatbed scanners that are located in some computer laboratories and scanning and sending the output directly to a Deakin email account using the Lexmark multifunction printers.

Staff are able to scan documents and either send the output directly to a Deakin email account from a multifunction printer or print the scanned documents.

All University Lexmark printers/scanning enabled devices that were purchased after August 2009 and some printers/scanning enabled devices purchased prior to this date (as determined by each business area) are covered by the Lexmark total care service which includes provision of replacement consumables such as toner cartridges and maintenance kits as well as onsite servicing when an internal error occurs. Note that errors that appear on the device display are not considered internal and require a customer-initiated call to Lexmark for assistance.

Lexmark can be contacted directly as follows:

  • Phone: 1300 362 192
  • Online: www.lexmark.com.au > Support & Downloads > Service & Repairs > Online Service Request

Canon can be contacted directly as follows:

Charges

Scanning and sending directly to email: Scanning of documents and sending them directly to an email address incurs no cost.

Scanning using a flatbed scanner: DeS is centrally funded to provide a number of flatbed scanners in computer laboratories. No charge is incurred for their use.

Scanning enabled device purchase/decommision and other costs: As scanning enabled devices are part of multifunctional printing devices, they incur the same charges as outlined for printers.
