Fixed telephone lines

This service provides staff and some public areas with access to fixed telephones through a leased program.

Procurement of a fixed phone line and handset through this service also includes ongoing maintenance and support.

The ability to make STD and IDD telephone calls from a fixed line can be limited to certain telephone numbers and is at the discretion of the Faculty, Institute or Other Area.

Telephone bills under this service are distributed by DeS by the 15th of each calendar month.

Response timeframes for standard Service Requests for this service are:

Request to DeS to Maximum business days to complete
Receive a new telephone handset 7 days
Receive a new telephone headset 3 days
Receive a new web camera 3 days
Update a telephone handset configuration 5 days

DeS aims to achieve 98% availability of the fixed telephone line service each calendar month.

DeS aims to achieve 99% availability of public access duress telephone lines each calendar month.

Charges

Phone line rental: DeS is centrally funded to provide this service to all Deakin University staff

Handset purchase: Charged at cost

Phone usage charges: Charged at cost

Simple telephone programming (eg. name change, voicemail PIN reset): DeS is centrally funded to provide this service to all Deakin University staff

Complex telephone programming (eg. new hunt group setup, new call centre setup): Assessed for each request

Telephone expansion modual : No charge if purchased with standard phone

External parties and events: Provision of a fixed telephone line and/or handset for the purposes of use by external parties and events will be quoted and charged for on an individual basis.
