Deakin University Copyright Guidelines and Requirements

Along with the University Solicitor’s Office, Knowledge Media Division provides assistance and advice to the Deakin University community on dealing with copyright matters, particularly in relation to the creation and provision of study materials, the online teaching environment and the management of Deakin University intellectual property and courseware.

As well as providing general information about copyright, these guidelines outline:

  • the responsibilities staff (and students) have to ensure copyright compliance;
  • the procedures to follow to ensure compliance
  • the licences and agreements upon which the university relies in order to legally reproduce or communicate a copyright holder’s work; and
  • the ways to make decisions about what material can be copied or communicated online.
