Learning Repository

The Learning Repository enables staff to store, classify, share and access teaching and learning materials from a secure and copyright controlled central location, and link these materials to CloudDeakin site.
Access learning repository directly
- Go to the Learning Repository home page - http://equella.deakin.edu.au/deakin/logon.do
- Login with your Deakin username and password.
Basic search directly from within the Learning Repository
- Enter keyword(s) in the search field in the left side menu.
- Click the search icon or press the Enter key to launch the search.
- The search results will open in the main/results area.
Power (advanced) search directly from within the Learning Repository
- Click on Advanced search in the left side menu. The search page will appear in the main area.
- Enter keyword(s) in the search field.
- Select the collection you wish to search from the Select a search drop-down menu.
- Fill in as many details as appropriate in the blue shaded area, in order to refine your search.
- Click on the Search button to launch your search.
- The search results will open in the main/results area.
Browse available items directly from within the Learning Repository
- Select the collection to browse by clicking on one of the Browse links.
- Select the required sub-topics to keep browsing.
- You can navigate back by using the breadcrumbs that appear at the top of the main area/page.
Customise the search results display
From the search results page, you are able to customise the order in which search results are displayed in the following ways:
- Select the number of items to be displayed per page from the drop-down list.
- Sort the search items by selecting from the drop-down list. The options are:
- Sort by Rank based on the most relevant keywords entered
- Sort by Date the items were contributed
- Sort by Title the name of the items by alphabetical order
- Sort by Rating based on user ratings.
Activate and link to an existing third party resource directly from within the Learning Repository
Note: It is recommended that you activate and link to third party resources from within CloudDeakin.
- Search for the third party resource (e.g. e-readings).
Note: If the third party resources you are looking for does not yet exist in the Learning Repository, you will need to submit a request for the resource to be added. Refer to Contribute a resource directly from within the Learning Repository. - Once you have located the resource you wish to activate and link to, click on View more details... for the appropriate third party resource.
- Click Activate.
- Select the relevant unit and trimester from the Course drop-down list.
- Check the activation dates are correct.
- Click Activate once more to complete the process.
- The resource has now been automatically added to your unit's e-reading list on the Library website.
- You will now need to manually link the third party resource to your CloudDeakin page.
Contribute a resource directly from within the Learning Repository
Note: It is wise to search the Learning Repository to check for duplicate resources before contributing.
- Click on Contribute under My Resources on the left side of the page.
- Click on the relevant category (eg. Deakin owned resources or Third party resources).
Note: You will only see collections to which you are able to contribute. - If contributing to Deakin owned resources, click on Resource Exchange.
- If contributing to Third party resources, click on the name of the collection to which you wish to contribute.
- You will then go through the process of requesting, and if appropriate uploading, the resource. After reading the information under the Information tab, click Next.
- Complete the fields in each subsequent screen. You will need to click Next at the bottom of each screen to progress.
- The information will be summarised on the final page. When you are satisfied it is all correct, click Save to submit the document for moderation.
Note: If you have not completed all relevant sections before clicking Save, you will notified and given the option to use the Complete Wizard or to Save as Draft. - Select either Submit for Moderation or Save as Draft.
Note: Saved drafts can only be accessed from the My items menu directly from within the Learning Repository interface.
Share or save a search result directly from within the Learning Repository with others
Access a saved search from within the Learning Repository
Note: To access a saved search you will need to do this directly from within the learning repository. You cannot access a saved search from within CloudDeakin.
- Click on My Search in the left side menu under Search.
- Click on the title of the search you wish to access.
Edit a saved draft
- Click on My items in the left side menu under My resources.
- Click on In Draft.
- Click on View more details of the draft item you wish to edit.
- Click on the Administer tab.
- Click on Edit.
- Make the necessary changes as per contribute resources instructions (points 6-8).
Moderation - find out if an item has been accepted or rejected
- Click on My items in the left side menu below My resources.
- Check the status of your item in the following categories:
- Requiring review
- Live
- Requiring moderation
- Rejected
- Activity Plans (live)
- Activity Plans (draft)
- In draft
- Archived / Suspended
- Items modified in the last 30 days.
Deleting an item you have contributed
To delete a Deakin-owned item that you have contributed, contact the IT Service Desk. To deactivate an e-reading list/activation, contact the Copyright Services.
