This collection covers chemistry & allied sciences, physical & theoretical chemistry, laboratories & equipment, analytical chemistry, qualitative chemistry, quantitative chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and crystallography.

Purpose of the collection

The Library collects in the field of Chemistry to support the teaching and research needs of the Faculty of Science & Technology generally, and the School of Life and Environmental Sciences particularly.
Resources in this area are also used to varying degrees by other Schools in the University.

Users/courses supported by the collection

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences offers the undergraduate degree Bachelor of Science with major sequences in Biological Chemistry and Chemistry.

The School also offers postgraduate courses in Occupational Hygiene and undertakes research in Chemistry and Forensic Science.

Existing Collection

Major online databases such as CHEMnetBASE, CCINFOWeb, Toxicology Abstracts, TOXLINE, Applied Science & Technology Abstracts, Pollution Abstracts, Web of Knowledge, SciVerse, provide access to a range of information. Unmediated searching of SciFinder Scholar is available to staff and research students in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences.
